Reality TV does terrible things to the terrible British body image. It lately presents an image of perfection that is utterly masochistic to watch, because almost no one looks like that, and if they do, they are probably so self-absorbed they have never read a book, so why would you want to sleep with them anyway? (What is their pillow talk? The safe use of steroids? Where to get tanning sessions for 30 pence?)
In the ITV2 sex juggernaut Love Island - semi-nude Barbie meets semi-nude Ken for loveless congress for media careers - everyone has a perfect body. I have written reams on why I do not think the inhabitants of Love Island are happy, despite this spurious perfection, but it does not matter....
